Biography
Who is Achille Lauro?
Early life and real name
Achille Lauro was given the birth name Lauro De Marinis when he was born on July 11, 1990, in Verona, Italy. His father, Nicola De Marinis, worked as a professor and a magistrate on the Supreme Court of Cassation. His mother, Cristina Zambon, later became the administrator of his holding company. He grew up in Rome, where he lived with his older brother Federico at age 14 after his parents moved away.
His brother introduced him to underground rap music while working as a producer. He chose his stage name because people associated his birth name with a cruise ship that had been hijacked and later sank during his childhood years.
Music career beginnings
On April 14, 2012, Achille Lauro released his first mixtape, Barabba, which was made available as a free download. He subsequently signed with Roccia Music and released his debut studio album, Achille Idol Immortale, on February 27, 2014. The record featured collaborations with artists such as Marracash, Gemitaiz, and Coez.
His second studio album, Dio c'è, was released in May 2015 and peaked at number 19 on the Italian music charts. He left Roccia Music in June 2016 and established his own label named No Face Agency. Under this label, he released his third studio album, Ragazzi madre, in November 2016. The album reached number 22 on the charts and received a gold certification from the Federazione Industria Musicale Italiana in 2018.
