Early life and background
Alexandra von Fürstenberg Natasha Miller was born on October 3, 1972, in British Hong Kong. Her father is the American billionaire and DFS Group co-founder Robert Warren Miller, and her mother is María Clara Pesantes Becerra. She grew up alongside her two older sisters, Pia and Marie-Chantal, splitting their time between Hong Kong, Paris, and New York City.
During the 1990s, Alexandra and her sisters gained widespread public attention when New York high society popularly dubbed them the Miller Sisters. She pursued higher education at Brown University and the Parsons School of Design, where she focused her studies on art history and costume design.
Career and design work
In 1995, Alexandra began working on the design team for her mother-in-law, fashion designer Diane von Fürstenberg. During her ten-year career at DVF, she held positions including Creative Director and Director of Image. In these roles, she played an instrumental part in re-launching the famous wrap dress and strengthening the brand presence.
After relocating to Los Angeles in 2005, Alexandra shifted her creative focus toward interior design. She initially created custom acrylic home accessories for her own residence before realizing there was a strong commercial market for her work. In March 2008, she officially launched her own company, Alexandra Von Furstenberg, LLC, producing modern furniture and home decor made entirely of acrylic.
Personal life and family
On October 28, 1995, Alexandra married Prince Alexander von Fürstenberg at the Church of St. Ignatius of Loyola in New York City. The couple had two children together, Princess Talita Natasha and Prince Tassilo Egon Maximilian, before finalizing their divorce in 2002. She is also the godmother of her nephew Prince Constantine Alexios of Greece and Denmark.
Years later, Alexandra entered a relationship with architectural designer and developer Dax Miller. The couple married on July 7, 2015, celebrating their wedding on the exact seventh anniversary of the start of their relationship.
