Who is Amala Paul?
Early life and schooling
Amala Paul was born on October 26, 1991, in Kochi, India. She grew up in Ernakulam, Kerala, as the daughter of Paul Varghese and Annice Paul. Her brother, Abijith Paul, also pursued a career in the film industry following her own debut.
She completed her primary schooling at Nirmala Higher Secondary School in Aluva. Although she took a break from her education to focus on acting, she later enrolled at St. Teresa's College in Kochi to work toward a degree in English. Her mother was a singer and her father participated in college theatre, which influenced her interest in the performing arts.
Starting an acting career
Her father initially opposed her desire to work in the film industry, but he eventually agreed after her brother supported her ambitions. She made her screen debut in the 2009 Malayalam film Neelathamara. Early in her career, she was briefly known as Anakha at the suggestion of director Samy, but she later reverted to her birth name.
Following her start in smaller projects, she gained significant attention with the 2010 romantic drama Mynaa. This film proved to be a commercial success and established her as a recognized performer. The project was highly anticipated, and after its release, she was quickly signed for several prominent roles in both Tamil and Telugu cinema.
