Early life and background
Angelo Ogbonna was born in Cassino, Italy. His parents moved from Nigeria to Italy in 1983 before settling in the central part of the country. Although he grew up in Italy, he only received his Italian citizenship after turning 18.
Before joining a major professional club, he spent time in the youth system at Nuova Cassino. This early training provided the foundation for his future career in professional association football.

He first signed with Torino in 2002 after being scouted by Antonio Comi. Angelo Ogbonna made his Serie A debut for the club in February 2007 under manager Alberto Zaccheroni. After a loan period with Crotone in Serie C1, he returned to Torino and eventually helped the team earn promotion back to Serie A during the 2011–12 season.
