Who is Ankita Lokhande?
Early life and real name
Ankita Lokhande was born as Tanuja Lokhande on December 19, 1985, in Indore, India. She grew up in a Marathi family with her parents, Shashikant Lokhande and Vandana Phadnis Lokhande, alongside her brothers and sister. During her early years in Indore, she was active in sports and became a badminton champion.
After completing her education, she decided to pursue a career in the entertainment industry. In 2005, she relocated to Mumbai to look for acting opportunities and participate in talent-based reality television shows.
Rise to television fame
Before achieving mainstream success, she participated in India's Best Cinestars Ki Khoj between 2007 and 2009. Her major breakthrough came when she was cast as Archana Deshmukh in Ekta Kapoor's daily soap Pavitra Rishta. She played this lead role opposite Sushant Singh Rajput and Hiten Tejwani from 2009 to 2014.
When the series took a generation leap, she also played Archana's granddaughter Ankita Karmarkar until the show concluded. Her performance on the program earned her several accolades, including three Gold Awards, one ITA Award, and two Indian Telly Awards. She later returned to the franchise in the web series Pavitra Rishta: It's Never Too Late.
Transition to film and reality shows
In 2019, she made her feature film debut as the warrior Jhalkaribai in the historical epic Manikarnika: The Queen of Jhansi. The film performed well at the box office, and her performance received positive remarks from critics and reviewers.
She subsequently appeared in the action thriller Baaghi 3 in 2020 and played a role in the film The Last Coffee in 2023. Alongside her acting projects, she participated in various reality television programs, including Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa 4 and Bigg Boss 17, where she finished as the third runner-up.
Family and relationships
She previously shared a long-term relationship with her Pavitra Rishta co-star Sushant Singh Rajput, whom she dated after they met on the set. However, the couple separated in 2016.
In 2019, she publicly revealed her relationship with businessman Vicky Jain. The couple participated together in the reality show Smart Jodi, winning the season. On December 14, 2021, she married Vicky Jain in a traditional wedding ceremony held in Mumbai.
