Early life and background
Anushka Sharma was born on May 1, 1988, in Ayodhya, Uttar Pradesh, India. Her father, Ajay Kumar Sharma, served as an army officer, and her mother, Ashima Sharma, worked as a homemaker. She has an older brother named Karnesh Sharma, who works as a film producer. Growing up as a military child played an important role in shaping her personal identity.
She spent her childhood being raised in Bangalore. She attended St. Mary's School in Margherita, Assam, and later completed her studies at Army School in Bangalore. Following her school education, she earned a graduation degree in arts from Mount Carmel College in Bangalore.
