Who is Arash?
Early life and background
Arash was born in Tehran, Iran, on April 23, 1977. During his childhood, he lived with his parents near Mellat Park in Tehran. When he reached the age of ten, he moved with his family to Sweden, where he eventually settled and continued to reside.
In interviews with media outlets such as BBC Persian Television, he shared that his mother and father originated from the Iranian cities of Shiraz and Isfahan respectively. He also developed an early interest in association football and singing, forming an informal band with friends during his youth.
Music career and debut
Arash explained that his choice to sing in his native language stemmed from a deep attachment to Iran and Persian culture. After completing his college studies, he released his debut studio album titled Arash through Warner Music Sweden in June 2005.
His singles Boro Boro and Temptation achieved well-known success on hit lists across Europe. The respective music videos received significant airplay on numerous MTV outlets worldwide, establishing his presence in the international music scene.
International hits and chart success
The platinum-selling artist achieved chart success in various Eastern and South-Eastern European countries including Russia, Ukraine, Greece, Bulgaria, Poland, Hungary, and Turkey. His music also charted in several Asian nations such as Tajikistan, Kazakhstan, Afghanistan, and Uzbekistan.
His debut album earned gold certifications in Germany, Russia, Slovenia, and Greece. Also, his single Boro Boro received a gold certification in Sweden and was featured in the Hindi Bollywood film Bluffmaster!
Eurovision and television work
In 2009, Arash co-wrote and composed the song Always for the Eurovision Song Contest. He performed the duet alongside Aysel Teymurzadeh representing Azerbaijan, ultimately finishing in third place during the grand final on May 16, 2009.
In addition to his music career, Arash took on television roles. He became one of the judges on Persia's Got Talent, which is a Persian franchise of the international Got Talent format.
Personal life and marriage
Arash married his longtime fiancee, Behnaz Ansari, during a ceremony held in Dubai in May 2011. He has continued his career in music production and entertainment from his base in Sweden.
