Who is Bryan Adams?
Early life and real name
Bryan Adams Guy Adams was born on November 5, 1959, in Kingston, Canada. His parents were Elizabeth Jane and Conrad J. Adams, an English couple who emigrated to Canada in the 1950s. Due to his father's work as a British Army officer and a United Nations peacekeeping observer, Bryan travelled extensively during his childhood. He lived in countries such as Portugal, Israel, Japan, South Korea, and the United Kingdom before settling in Ottawa.
During his youth, Bryan attended several schools, including Argyle Secondary School and Colonel By Secondary School. He bought his first electric guitar at the age of ten. At age 15, he dropped out of school to pursue music. He spent time playing in local groups and working odd jobs like washing dishes to pay rent before finding success in the music industry.
How Bryan became famous
Bryan began working in the Vancouver music scene as a studio session singer and joined the glam rock band Sweeney Todd at age 15. In 1978, he met Jim Vallance in a musical instrument store, beginning a long and productive songwriting partnership. Later that year, Bryan signed to A&M records and released his self-titled debut album in February 1980.
His breakout album, Cuts Like a Knife, was released in January 1983 and featured hit tracks like Straight from the Heart. Following that success, his 1984 album Reckless made him a global star. It featured multiple top ten hits, including Run to You, Summer of '69, and the number one power ballad Heaven. In 1991, he released the big single Everything I Do I Do It for You, which reached number one in at least 19 countries and stayed at the top of the UK charts for 16 straight weeks.

Throughout his decades-long career, Bryan has received numerous accolades for his contributions to music and the arts. He has won 20 Juno Awards and a Grammy Award for Best Song Written for Visual Media out of 16 Grammy nominations. He has also been nominated for five Golden Globe Awards and three Academy Awards for his songwriting work in films.
His extensive list of honours includes inductions into the Hollywood Walk of Fame, Canada's Walk of Fame, the Canadian Broadcast Hall of Fame, the Canadian Music Hall of Fame, and the Canadian Songwriters Hall of Fame. In 2010, he received the Governor General's Awards in Performing Arts for his lifetime artistic achievement.

Bryan is in a relationship with Alicia Grimaldi. Together, they have two children named Mirabella Bunny Grimaldi Adams and Lula RosyLea Grimaldi Adams. Alongside his successful career as a singer and songwriter, Bryan is also an accomplished photographer, guitarist, bassist, and record producer.
