Who is Carlos Baute?
Early life and beginnings
Carlos Roberto Baute Jiménez was born in Caracas, Venezuela. He is the youngest son of Alfonso Baute and Clara Jiménez. His father came from Tenerife in Spain, and his mother was born in Venezuela. Both parents have family roots tracing back to the Canary Islands in Spain. The surname Baute originates from the Guanche people, the indigenous population of those islands.
At age thirteen, Carlos joined a group called Los Chamos. This group released an album titled Con un poco de Amor in 1990. He also worked as a model during his early career years.
Music and acting career
In 1994, he released his first solo album titled Orígenes I. He later moved into acting by appearing in the Venezuelan telenovela Destino de Mujer in 1997, where he played a swimming instructor named Pedro José. After moving to Spain in 1999 following the release of his album Yo nací para querer, Carlos Baute found significant success.
Carlos has released six albums throughout his career, including a greatest hits collection. His album De Mi Puño y Letra came out on April 1, 2008. It featured the popular song Colgando en tus manos. He recorded two versions of this track, one solo and one with Marta Sánchez, which reached the top of music charts across many Spanish-speaking nations.
Personal life and residence
Carlos Baute has lived in Spain since the late 1990s and holds Spanish citizenship. He resides in Madrid with his wife, Astrid Klisans, whom he married in June 2012. The couple has three children together.
Regarding politics, he has publicly supported Juan Guaidó during the Venezuelan presidential crisis. Carlos stated that he has not visited his home country for eight years because he was blacklisted by the Maduro government. In 2014, he released a music video titled Que tu voz sea mi voz, where he wore the Venezuelan flag on his face to ask for respect among citizens.
