Early life and real name
Casandra Elizabeth Ventura was born on August 26, 1986, in New London, Connecticut. Her mother, Regina, is of African American, Mexican, and West Indian descent, while her father, Rod, is Filipino. She attended The Williams School, a preparatory school on the Connecticut College campus. Growing up, she began modeling at age 14 for local department stores, Delia's fashion catalog, and Seventeen magazine.
After finishing high school in 2004, she moved to New York City to pursue her career further. She took classes at the Broadway Dance Center and signed with Wilhelmina Models. During her early years, she also made a brief appearance in Mario's music video for Just a Friend 2002 before transitioning more fully into the music industry.
How Cassie became famous
Cassie Ventura launched her musical career in 2004 after meeting producer Ryan Leslie at clubs and parties in New York. Leslie signed her to his record label, NextSelection Lifestyle Group, and produced her breakout single Me & U in 2005. Following her departure from Bad Boy Records and the end of her relationship with Combs, she married Alex Fine in late 2019 and focused on her family and independent musical endeavors.
