Who is Chris Robshaw?
Early life and education
Chris Robshaw was born in Redhill, United Kingdom. He grew up as the second of three brothers. His father passed away when he was five years old, leaving his mother, Patricia, to raise her sons on her own.
His rugby path began at age seven while playing for Warlingham RFC. He attended Cumnor House School in Surrey before moving to Millfield Preparatory School. Later, he attended Millfield public school in Glastonbury, Somerset, where he served as the first team captain.
Rugby career highlights
Chris began his professional club career with Harlequins, making his Premiership debut during the 2007 to 2008 season. He achieved significant success with the London-based club, winning the Aviva Premiership Player of the Year award twice. His first win came after the 2008/9 season, and he earned his second title following the 2011/12 campaign. During that successful 2011 to 2012 season, he scored a try in the Premiership final victory against Leicester Tigers.
On the international stage, he represented England in various capacities. He played for the England Schools Under 18 side in 2004 and was part of the England Under 21 squad during the 2006 Six Nations and the 2006 Under 21 Rugby World Championship. He eventually became the captain of the England men's national rugby union team from January 2012 until December 2015. During his leadership, he earned a total of 66 international caps, all of which were starts.
Following his time in England, he played for the San Diego Legion in Major League Rugby during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. He officially announced his retirement from professional rugby on 21 October 2022.
Family and personal life
Chris married his partner, Camilla Kerslake, in France on 29 June 2018. The couple had been engaged following a relationship that lasted six years.
Outside of rugby, he has appeared on television. In 2025, he participated as a contestant on the twenty third series of Strictly Come Dancing. He competed in the show until Week 4, where he finished in 13th place.
