Who is Christina Lindberg?
Early life and background
Christina Lindberg grew up in the Annedal district of Gothenburg. She lived in a working-class household with three brothers and one sister. During her time in school, she studied Latin and held intentions of pursuing archaeology after graduation.
Modeling and film career
Around 1968, while finishing her schooling, Christina began appearing in swimsuit photos for local Swedish newspapers. This early exposure led to nude modeling for magazines like Lektyr and FIB aktuellt. She eventually gained international recognition as a Penthouse Pet in the June 1970 issue of Penthouse magazine. Her modeling work expanded to publications such as Playboy and Lui.
Christina Lindberg starred in 26 feature films, primarily within the erotica and sexploitation genres. Her first Swedish film role came in 1970 with the comedy Rötmånad, which achieved significant commercial success. Her international profile grew after the release of Exponerad, which was promoted at the Cannes Film Festival. This project prompted a trip to Japan, where she secured a supporting role in the film Sex & Fury. In 1973, she starred as Madeleine in the film Thriller, en grym film. This specific performance later served as inspiration for the character Elle Driver in the Kill Bill series. She eventually stepped away from explicit roles, famously leaving the set of the film Flossie when it became clear the production would move toward hardcore content.
Journalism and aviation work
After moving away from the film industry, Christina Lindberg began focusing on other interests. She met Bo Sehlberg in 1972, who became her fiancé. She started working for his publication, Flygrevyn, which is the largest aviation magazine in Scandinavia. Following his death in 2004, she assumed the role of editor-in-chief and took over ownership of the company.
Her professional life has been varied. She produced an instructional video regarding mushroom foraging titled Christinas Svampskola. Also, she is an active supporter of wolf conservation efforts in Sweden. She also pursued studies in journalism at the Poppius school and has worked as a writer for men's magazines. Later in life, she returned to acting with roles in the 2016 film Lindangens Park, the 2018 movie Svart Cirkel, and the 2020 feature Pandemonic.
