Who is David Choi?
Early life and musical roots
David Choi was born in Anaheim, California. Growing up in a musical household, his parents, Ray and Jane Choi, operated a music business called Grace Store. His father played the autoharp, which provided a constant musical environment for him during his childhood.
During his youth, he studied both the violin and the piano. Although he did not initially enjoy the discipline required for these instruments, he eventually became the concertmaster of his school orchestra. His musical interests shifted toward pop music in sixth grade after he heard songs by Smash Mouth and blink-182.
How David became famous
The start of his career involved several well-known achievements, including winning a songwriting contest for teens and winning a mashup contest held by David Bowie. He also worked as a staff songwriter and producer for Warner/Chappell Music after attending an ASCAP workshop.
