Early life and education
Born in Mexico City, Mexico, Eiza Gonzalez grew up with her mother, Glenda Reyna, who worked as a model. She has a younger brother named Yulen. During her youth, she attended the American School Foundation of Mexico City and the Edron Academy.
Seeking to expand her artistic skills, she studied at the Centro de Educación Artística de Televisa. Later, she moved to New York City to attend a three-month program at the Lee Strasberg Theatre and Film Institute. She also spent time in Trento, Italy, to study the language. Her father passed away in a motorcycle accident when she was twelve, an event she later noted as a significant influence on her life and career. Eiza speaks Spanish, English, Italian, and some French.
Acting career
Eiza started her career in Mexico, securing a lead role in the teen telenovela Lola...Érase una vez at sixteen. She later starred in the Nickelodeon sitcom Sueña conmigo, which required her to live in Buenos Aires for a year to film. Seeking new opportunities, she moved to Los Angeles in 2013.
Her first English-speaking role came in the television series From Dusk till Dawn: The Series, where she played Santanico Pandemonium. She eventually transitioned into major Hollywood film productions, appearing as Darling in the action film Baby Driver. Her filmography expanded with roles in Alita: Battle Angel, Bloodshot, and the action film Ambulance, where she played a paramedic named Cam Thompson. In 2024, she appeared in the science fiction series 3 Body Problem and the action-comedy The Ministry of Ungentlemanly Warfare. She also appeared in the sci-fi horror film Ash in 2025.
Music and endorsements
Alongside acting, Eiza pursued a musical career. She signed a deal with EMI Televisa and released her debut album, Contracorriente, in 2009. This was followed by her second album, Te Acordarás de Mí, in 2012. She co-wrote several tracks for this second project. Her musical work included performing at various festivals across Mexico and touring in Argentina.
Eiza also worked as a spokesperson for several global brands. In 2008, she became a face for the cosmetics line Avon in Mexico. Later, in 2015, she was announced as a brand ambassador for the skincare company Neutrogena, filming advertisements in both English and Spanish. She also worked with the skincare brand Asepxia.
Personal life
Eiza has been open about her past struggles with mental health. She revealed that she dealt with depression and compulsive overeating between the ages of fifteen and twenty, attributing these difficulties to the loss of her father. Regarding her personal relationships, she has been in a relationship with Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov since April 2025. She remains a prominent figure in the entertainment industry, balancing her work in both film and television. She continues to reside in the United States to facilitate her acting career.
