Who is Erika Vikman?
Early life
Erika Vikman was born in Tampere, Finland, and grew up in Lempäälä and Pori. Her mother was a singer who performed Finnish tango music and competed in Tangomarkkinat. She has a younger sister named Jennika, who is also a singer.
Erika Vikman began singing as a teenager. She won the girls division in the 2008 Junior Tango Competition. She later participated in the 2010 Tampere Springboard Competition.
Erika Vikman attended Tampere Upper Secondary School of Performing Arts and graduated with her upper secondary school diploma in 2013. Afterward, she studied pop-jazz vocals at Pirkanmaa Music College.
Music career
Erika Vikman began her professional career in 2013 by competing in season seven of the Finnish version of Idols. She reached the finals and finished in seventh place.
Following her departure from Idols, Erika Vikman established herself as a tango singer. She competed in Tangomarkkinat in 2015, finishing in second place. She returned to the competition the following year and won, earning the title of Tango Queen of Finland for 2016.
After winning the competition, Erika Vikman signed with Sony Music and released her first single with the label, titled Ettei mee elämä hukkaan, in 2017. The song featured electropop elements.
Mainstream success
In 2020, Erika Vikman signed with Warner Music Finland and competed in Uuden Musiikin Kilpailu with the song Cicciolina. The track became her first top five hit in Finland.
Following that success, she released the single Syntisten pöytä, which became her second top five hit and her first number one radio hit. She also placed third in the first season of Masked Singer Suomi.
Erika Vikman released her debut self titled studio album in August 2021. The album reached number one on the charts in Finland. In 2025, she won the national selection again and represented Finland in the Eurovision Song Contest with the song Ich komme, finishing eleventh in the final.
Personal life
From 2016 until 2020, Erika Vikman was in a relationship with Finnish singer Danny. The two resided together in Kirkkonummi until their separation.
In 2020, Erika Vikman came out publicly as bisexual. She continues to reside and work in Finland.
