Who is Ewa Farna?
Early life
Ewa Farna was born on August 12, 1993, in Třinec, Czechia, into a Polish family living in the nearby village of Vendryně. She attended a Polish elementary school in Vendryně and went to the Juliusz Słowacki Polish Grammar School in Český Těšín. During her childhood, she also studied at an art school for five years, attended a dance school, and learned how to play the piano.
Coming from a patriotic Polish family from the Trans-Olza region, her father Tadeusz played music in regional Polish folk groups. She has two siblings named Adam and Magdalena. Farna holds Czech citizenship but has frequently stated that she feels like a proud Pole, actively campaigning for the visibility of the Polish minority in the Czech Republic.
Career highlights
Farna gained attention after winning local talent contests in the Czech Republic and Poland during 2004 and 2005. Producer Lešek Wronka discovered her through these competitions and became her manager. In 2006, she released her debut studio album titled Měls mě vůbec rád and won the Český slavík Discovery of the Year award. Her sophomore album Ticho came out in 2007 and reached number two in the Czech Republic, while her concert DVD Blíž ke hvězdám became the best-selling music DVD of 2008 in the country.
She continued releasing successful projects, including her debut Polish album EWAkuacja in 2010, which earned multiple awards such as Viva Comet 2011. She also released concert DVDs titled 18 Live and Live, niezapomniany koncert urodzinowy in 2011. Over the years, she won several Český slavík Best Female Singer awards and eventually sold out three shows at the Fortuna Arena.
Television and personal life
Beyond her music career, Farna has appeared on television as a judge for various singing competitions. She judged contestants on Česko Slovenská SuperStar in 2013, the Polish X Factor in 2014, and the Polish Idol in 2017. She also made a guest appearance in an episode of the Polish sitcom Hela w opałach in 2010.
In May 2012, Farna was involved in a car crash near Třinec and Vendryně, sustaining minor scratches after falling asleep behind the wheel. She married Martin Chobot in 2017, and the couple shares two children while living in Prague.
