Who is Example?
Early life and real name
Example was born as Elliot John Gleave in Fulham, United Kingdom, on June 20, 1982. He grew up attending Ashcroft Technology Academy before pursuing higher education at Royal Holloway, University of London, where he graduated in 2004. During his younger years, he developed an interest in hip-hop music, which heavily influenced his later career in the music industry.
Before finding mainstream musical success, Example worked as a voiceover artist and editor for the Paramount Comedy Channel and MTV Networks. He started releasing music independently through his own imprint called All The Chats before signing a record deal with The Beats label in April 2006.
Career highlights
Example released his debut studio album, What We Made, in 2007. He achieved widespread commercial success in 2010 with his second studio album, Won't Go Quietly, which peaked at number four on the UK Albums Chart and included the hit singles Won't Go Quietly and Kickstarts.
