Who is Grazi Massafera?
Pageant and early career
Grazi Massafera was born in Jacarezinho, Brazil. She started her career in beauty pageants. She won the Miss Paraná title in 2004. Later that year, she competed in the Miss Brasil contest and finished in third place. This result earned her the title of Miss Brasil Internacional. She then traveled to China to compete in the Miss International 2004 pageant. She did not make it to the semi-finals of the global competition.
Big Brother Brasil and fame
In 2005, Grazi Massafera joined the fifth season of Big Brother Brasil. This particular season became the most watched version of the show in the country. She finished in second place after receiving 40 percent of the votes. This appearance made her a major celebrity in Brazil. She appeared on numerous magazine covers and signed many commercial deals. She was the second person from the reality show to reach this level of fame.
Television and modeling
Grazi signed a one year deal with the Globo television network. She worked as a reporter for the show Caldeirão do Huck. She also posed for the August 2005 issue of Brazilian Playboy. This edition was the best selling cover of that year and she was one of the highest paid stars in the magazine. By May 2007, she had appeared on 134 different magazine covers. She also visited Portugal to film commercials due to her fame.
Acting career
Grazi Massafera took acting classes at the Globo acting department. Her first starring movie role was in the 2005 film Didi, o Caçador de Tesouros. In 2006, she joined the soap opera Páginas da Vida. Her role grew from a small part to a main character because of her popularity. The show became the top rated program on Brazilian television. For this work, she won a personality of the year award from Prêmio de Imprensa and a Prêmio Contigo as the best newcomer.
Later projects and awards
Between 2007 and 2008, she starred in the soap opera Desejo Proibido. She also played the role of Maria in a stage version of The Passion of Christ. In 2008, she had a lead role in the soap Negócio da China and was named queen of the Copacabana Palace carnival. In 2016, Grazi Massafera was nominated for an International Emmy in the Best Actress category. This nomination was for her performance in the telenovela Verdades Secretas. She also paraded with a Samba school in Rio during the 2007 carnival.
