Who is Ineya?
Real name and early life
Ineya was born as Shruti Sawant. She started acting as a child artist in several Malayalam telefilms and television series. While in class four, she appeared in the telefilm Koottilekku. She later acted in the series Sree Guruvayoorappan and Orma. These shows were created by Vayalar Madhavan Kutty.
In 2005, she won the Miss Trivandrum title. This led to a period of modeling and appearing in television advertisements. She also worked in Malayalam art films like Saira in 2006. This film was directed by Dr. Biju. She later appeared in Umma and Dalamarmarangal. Both these movies were directed by Vijayakrishnan. She also played a role in a short feature called The Sacred Face. This project by Rajesh Touchriver dealt with child abuse.
Tamil cinema career
Ineya entered the Tamil film industry in 2010 with the movie Padagasalai. She signed four other Tamil projects, but those films were cancelled or never released. She then took a supporting role in the mystery thriller Yuddham Sei. In this film, she played the sister of a character played by Cheran.
Her major breakthrough came in 2011 with the period film Vaagai Sooda Vaa. She played a tea stall owner in the movie. Critics praised her natural and expressive acting. This role earned her the Edison Award for Best Debut Actress. She also won the Best Actress title from the Tamil Nadu State Film Awards. In the same year, she acted in Mouna Guru alongside Arulnidhi.

The actress worked in several offbeat Malayalam films such as Radio, Ayaal, and Bhoopadathil Illatha Oridam. In 2014, she appeared in the Tamil movie Naan Sigappu Manithan. She also acted in Pulivaal, which was a remake of the Malayalam film Chaappa Kurishu. That same year, she played a dancer in the film Vellivelichathil.
She appeared in the comedy film Amar Akbar Anthony in 2015. She also worked on the bilingual projects Alone and Girls. In 2016, she played a character named Lovely in the movie Swarnakaduva. Her performance in this film received praise. She worked with Mammootty in Puthan Panam in 2017 and Mamangam in 2019. In 2020, she acted in the Kannada film Drona with Shiva Rajkumar.
Television and digital work
Ineya expanded her career into television and web series. She played the title role in the 2019 Tamil horror comedy Pottu. She also appeared in the Tamil soap opera Kannana Kanne. In 2021, she starred in the thriller Coffee, which aired directly on television.
In 2022, she joined the cast of the crime web series Vilangu. This series started streaming on the ZEE5 platform. In the show, she plays the wife of a character named Vimal. More recently, she worked with Samuthirakani in the 2023 crime thriller Naan Kadavul Illai. This film was directed by S. A. Chandrasekhar.
