Early life and education
Jess Glynne: Jessica Hannah Glynne was born on October 20, 1989, in London, United Kingdom. She grew up in Hampstead and was raised in Muswell Hill, located in North London, as part of a Jewish family. Her mother, Alexandra, worked within the A&R sector of the music industry.
During her childhood, Jess attended Rhodes Avenue Primary School and later studied at Fortismere School. She completed her A-levels there in 2008. Before establishing her career in music, she held several jobs working at a boutique, a fitness centre, and a hairdresser's.
Career beginnings and breakthrough
Jess completed a month-long music course at Access to Music London, an East London college. There she met songwriter Jin Jin and producer Bless Beats. One of her early compositions caught the attention of Black Butter Records, which signed her to a publishing deal. She later signed a recording contract with Atlantic Records in August 2013.
In 2013, deep house producer Route 94 approached Jess to provide vocals for the track My Love. Released in February 2014, the single reached number one on the UK Singles Chart. British band Clean Bandit then asked her to feature on their track Rather Be. The song also reached the top of the UK charts and achieved international success.
Second album and subsequent projects
In January 2018, Jess featured on the Rudimental single These Days alongside Macklemore and Dan Caplen. The song eventually claimed the number one position on the UK charts, making Jess the first British female solo artist to achieve seven number-one singles on the UK Singles Chart.
Her second studio album, Always In Between, was released in September 2018 and debuted at number one. The album included singles such as I'll Be There, All I Am, and Thursday. She started on a major tour spanning Europe, the UK, and the United States to support the release.
