Jimmy Jean-Louis was born on August 8, 1968, in Pétion-Ville, Haiti. He lived in his home country until he was twelve years old, when he relocated to Paris with his family. This move was prompted by his family seeking a better life and new opportunities. During his time in Paris, he experienced the challenges of adjusting from a rural environment to a large city, at one point even experiencing homelessness. He eventually enrolled in business courses but soon shifted his focus toward performance art, studying at the Académie Internationale de la Danse.

Before achieving widespread recognition in the United States, Jimmy spent three years working in musical theatre in Barcelona, Spain. He then moved to Italy to pursue further modeling work.
