Who is Kriti Sanon?
Early life
Kriti Sanon was born on July 27, 1990, in New Delhi, India. Her father, Rahul Sanon, works as a chartered accountant, and her mother, Geeta Sanon, is a physics professor at the University of Delhi. She grew up in a Punjabi Hindu family alongside her younger sister, Nupur Sanon, who also works as an actress.
She attended Delhi Public School in R. K. Puram for her school education. Later, she pursued higher studies and earned a Bachelor of Technology degree in Electronics and Telecommunication Engineering from the Jaypee Institute of Information Technology.
Career beginnings
Before entering the film industry, Kriti briefly worked as a fashion model. She made her acting debut in 2014 by playing the female lead in the Telugu psychological action thriller 1: Nenokkadine opposite Mahesh Babu. Later that same year, she made her Hindi film debut in the action movie Heropanti, starring alongside newcomer Tiger Shroff.
Heropanti emerged as a commercial success and earned her the Filmfare Award for Best Female Debut. Following this early recognition, she appeared in the action comedy Dilwale in 2015 alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Varun Dhawan, and Kajol. The film became one of the highest-grossing Indian releases at that time.

Kriti gained wider appreciation for her acting in the romantic comedy Bareilly Ki Barfi in 2017, where she played a headstrong small-town woman. A major turning point in her career came with the comedy-drama Mimi in 2021, where she portrayed an aspiring actress who becomes a surrogate mother. In the years following her success with Mimi, Kriti appeared in several diverse films. She starred in the horror-comedy Bhediya in 2022 and later appeared in the science fiction romantic comedy Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya alongside Shahid Kapoor. She also starred alongside Tabu and Kareena Kapoor Khan in the heist comedy Crew.
Alongside her acting career, Kriti has expanded into business and entrepreneurship. She launched her own clothing line named Ms. Taken, a fitness company called The Tribe, a skin-care brand called Hyphen, and a film production company called Blue Butterfly Films.
