Who is Kritika Kamra?
Early life and education
Kritika Kamra was born on October 25, 1988, in Ashoknagar, India, within a Punjabi Hindu family of doctors and educators. Her father worked as a doctor while her mother served as a school principal in Sukhpur, near Ashoknagar in Madhya Pradesh. Due to her family moving frequently, she attended multiple schools before completing her high school education at Delhi Public School, Vasant Kunj, in New Delhi.
After finishing school, Kritika enrolled at the National Institute of Fashion Technology in New Delhi to study Fashion Communication. While studying there, a casting director discovered her outside the college campus. This chance meeting led to her first television role and brought her to Mumbai to pursue an acting career.
Television career
Kritika made her acting debut in 2007 with the show Yahan Ke Hum Sikandar. In 2009, she played the singer Arohi in Kitani Mohabbat Hai opposite Karan Kundra, which earned her widespread praise. Between 2009 and 2010, she appeared as Kajol and Prateeksha in Pyaar Ka Bandhan. She then reprised her role as Arohi in the second season of Kitani Mohabbat Hai from 2010 to 2011.
From 2011 to 2013, Kritika starred as Dr. Nidhi Verma Mathur in Kuch Toh Log Kahenge alongside Mohnish Bahl and Sharad Kelkar. In 2015, she played reporter Ananya Kashyap opposite Rajeev Khandelwal in Reporters. Her television fiction career concluded with her portrayal of Princess Chandrakanta in the 2017 series Prem Ya Paheli Chandrakanta opposite Gaurav Khanna.
Films and streaming series
Kritika expanded her work into films by making her movie debut in 2018 as Avni in Mitron opposite Jackky Bhagnani, though the film was a commercial failure. She transitioned to web series in 2021 by playing college student Sana in Tandav on Amazon Prime Video. In 2022, she portrayed Princess Kamini in Kaun Banegi Shikharwati and played Dolly in the troubled marriage drama Hush Hush.
In 2023, Kritika appeared as reporter Vidhi in the film Bheed directed by Anubhav Sinha. That same year, she played Habiba in the streaming series Bambai Meri Jaan on Amazon Prime Video. Her recent projects include the 2024 release Gyaarah Gyaarah and filming for Matka King under director Nagraj Manjule, starring opposite Vijay Varma. She also featured in the 2018 music video Kamariya by Darshan Raval.
