Early life and background
Laetitia Casta was born on May 11, 1978, in Pont-Audemer, France. Her mother, Line Blin, is from Normandy, and her father, Dominique Casta, is from Corsica. She grew up alongside her older brother Jean-Baptiste and younger sister Marie-Ange, spending her childhood in both Normandy and Corsica.
Her career began at age 15 when she was discovered by photographer Frédéric Cresseaux after winning a village beauty pageant in Corsica. Her brother Jean-Baptiste had unknowingly entered her into the competition during a family holiday.
Modeling career and fashion work
Laetitia Casta quickly became well known in the fashion industry. She became a GUESS? Girl in 1993 and served as a Victoria's Secret Angel from 1998 to 2000. She also worked as a spokesperson and brand ambassador for L'Oréal starting in 1998.
Throughout her career, she appeared on more than 250 magazine covers, including Vogue, Cosmopolitan, Elle, Rolling Stone, and Glamour. She walked runways for major fashion houses such as Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, Dior, Jean-Paul Gaultier, Louis Vuitton, and Ralph Lauren. She was especially the final muse for designer Yves Saint Laurent, closing his shows as the bride from 1998 to 2001.
Acting and film roles
Transitioning into acting, Laetitia Casta made her film debut as Falbala in the 1999 live-action adaptation Asterix and Obelix vs. Caesar, directed by Claude Zidi. She subsequently appeared in various films, including Born in 68, Face, and Arbitrage.
In 2010, she portrayed Brigitte Bardot in the biographical film Gainsbourg: A Heroic Life. Her performance in the movie earned her a nomination for the César Award for Best Supporting Actress. Her later film credits include A Faithful Man in 2018 and The Crusade in 2021.
Personal life and family
Laetitia Casta gave birth to her first child, a daughter named Sahteene Sednaoui, in October 2001 with her then-partner Stéphane Sednaoui. She was later in a relationship with Italian actor Stefano Accorsi, with whom she had two children. In June 2017, she married French actor Louis Garrel, and they welcomed a son together in 2021.
