Who is Maiara Walsh?
Early life and upbringing
Maiara Walsh was born in Seattle, Washington. Her family included a mother from Brazil and an American father. When she was just one year old, the family moved to São Paulo, Brazil. This relocation meant that Portuguese became her primary language early in life. She later recalled experiencing bullying during her childhood years in Brazil.
After residing in Brazil for several years, the family moved back to Seattle. It was during this period that Maiara Walsh began developing an interest in music and the arts. She participated in various school plays and musical productions. When she turned eleven, she moved to Simi Valley, California. This move was intended to help her pursue a career in acting, and she eventually graduated from Royal High School.
Television career beginnings
Maiara Walsh first appeared on television in the Disney Channel series Cory in the House, which ran from 2007 to 2008. The show was a spin-off of the program That is So Raven. In this series, she portrayed Meena Paroom. The character was the daughter of an ambassador and a student at the same private school as Cory Baxter. As a series regular, her character became best friends with the main character, Cory Baxter, and another student named Newt.
Following her time on the Disney Channel, she continued to land roles in other television projects. In 2010, she appeared as Sarah in the second season of The Vampire Diaries. Also, she was cast as Simone Sinclair in the ABC Family drama Switched at Birth. She also filmed a pilot for the series Zombieland, playing the character Wichita, though the show was not picked up for a full season.
Film work and later projects
In 2011, Maiara Walsh acted in the film Mean Girls 2, which aired on Freeform. She played Mandi Weatherly, a character described as an A-list girl who belonged to the group known as the Plastics. This role added to her experience in teen-oriented media during that period of her career.
Later, she appeared in Lifetime original movie productions. In 2019, she starred in Identity Theft of a Cheerleader, where she played Vicky Patterson. The story followed a woman in her thirties who attempted to pose as a high school student to pursue a second chance at education and cheerleading. The character was modeled after the real-life case of Wendy Brown. In 2020, she worked alongside actor John DeLuca in the Lifetime film Killer Dream Home.
