Early life and education
Priyanka Karki was born in Kathmandu, Nepal, to parents Bhupendra Karki and Raksha Malhotra. She attended the Rato Bangla school for her primary education. Later, she moved to the United States to pursue higher studies at the University of North Alabama. She graduated summa cum laude with a degree in Film and Digital Media Production, along with a minor in Theatre.
Before her acting career gained momentum, she worked as a VJ for Kantipur Television. She hosted programs such as Celluloid and The Glam Factor. Her early media career also included acting in the comedy television serial Ghar Beti Ba.
Rising to fame
Priyanka developed an interest in glamour during her childhood. She participated in a modeling competition and was crowned Miss Teen Nepal in 2005. Priyanka Karki was previously married to Rochak Mainali, a resident of Troy, New York. That marriage ended in divorce after two years. In February 2020, she married fellow Nepali film actor Ayushman DS Joshi. The couple later welcomed their first child, Ayanka Karki Joshi, in September 2021.
