Early life and education
Pulkit Samrat was born on December 29, 1983, in Delhi, India. He grew up in a Punjabi household involved in the real estate sector. During his formative years, he attended Manav Sthali School and subsequently completed his secondary education at Montfort Senior Secondary School located in Ashok Vihar, Delhi.
Following his graduation, he enrolled in an advertising course at the Apeejay Institute of Design in Delhi. His academic path shifted after five months when he secured a modeling opportunity. This change led him to relocate to Mumbai, where he pursued formal acting training under the instruction of Kishore Namit Kapoor.
Television career beginnings
In 2005, the aspiring actor moved to Mumbai to launch his professional life. His debut on television occurred in 2006 with the long-running show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, produced by Balaji Telefilms. In this series, he played the character Laksh Virani alongside co-stars Mouni Roy and Tia Bajpai.
The role brought him his first major industry recognition, resulting in an Indian Telly Award for Fresh New Face - Male. He remained with the program until 2007. The following year, he appeared as a contestant on the show Kaho Na Yaar Hai, which served as his final credit in television. Later, in 2011, he performed as the lead in a musical theatrical production titled Taj Express, choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant.

His transition to the big screen happened in 2012 with the romantic comedy Bittoo Boss, where he portrayed a wedding videographer. Soon after, he secured the role of Hunny in the ensemble comedy Fukrey, which became a sleeper hit and significantly raised his profile. In 2014, he appeared in the action film Jai Ho, which achieved commercial success as his highest-grossing release at the time.
Throughout his career, he has participated in various projects with mixed critical and commercial results. Some of his well-known film appearances include Dolly Ki Doli, Sanam Re, and the thriller drama Taish, which premiered on the streaming platform ZEE5 in 2020. He also starred in 3 Storeys and the nature-themed film Haathi Mere Saathi. He reprised his role as Hunny in the third installment of the Fukrey series.
Personal life and relationships
Pulkit Samrat married Shweta Rohira on November 3, 2014, but the couple separated in November 2015. Following this period, he was involved in a relationship with his Sanam Re co-star Yami Gautam, which ended in 2018.
He later met actress Kriti Kharbanda, and the pair began a relationship in 2019. They have worked together on multiple film sets, including Veerey Ki Wedding, Pagalpanti, and Taish. After dating for five years, the couple got engaged in 2024 and subsequently married during a traditional Hindu ceremony in Manesar, Haryana, on March 15, 2024.
