Early life and education
Reema Sen was born in Kolkata, India, on October 29, 1981. She grew up in the city and completed her high school education from St. Thomas School in Kidderpore, Kolkata. After finishing her schooling years in Kolkata, her family relocated to Mumbai, where she eventually started her professional career in the entertainment and fashion industries.
Acting and modelling career
In Mumbai, Reema began working as a fashion model and appeared in numerous advertising campaigns. She soon transitioned into film acting, making her debut in the Telugu film Chitram opposite Uday Kiran. She followed this with roles in other successful regional projects, including the Tamil film Minnale alongside Madhavan.
Although her first Hindi film Hum Ho Gaye Aapke did not succeed at the box office, she continued finding success in Tamil cinema with films like Rendu. Viewers and critics also praised her performances in negative roles for movies such as Aayirathil Oruvan and Vallavan. In 1998, she appeared in a music video for the song Chandni Raatein sung by Shamsa Kanwal.
Her final Bollywood appearance came in Gangs of Wasseypur alongside Manoj Bajpayee, Nawazuddin Siddiqui, and Richa Chadda. She officially ended her film career in 2012 following her marriage, stepping away from the acting profession to focus on her personal life.

Reema married businessman Shiv Karan Singh in the year 2012. Following their marriage, she gave birth to their son on February 22, 2013. Her marriage marked the end of her active career in the film industry as she transitioned away from public appearances and acting roles.
Legal controversies
In April 2006, a court in Madurai issued non-bailable warrants against Reema and Shilpa Shetty regarding photographs published by the Tamil newspaper Dinakaran. The petitioner accused the publication of sharing images that allegedly violated various legal statutes including the Indecent Representation of Women Act. Later, in January 2007, outgoing Chief Justice Y. K. Sabharwal noted that Reema had written to him asking for guidelines against frivolous lawsuits directed at artists, though he declined her plea because she had not filed a formal petition.
