Early career and modeling
Richa Pallod began her career as a child artist. She appeared in the films Lamhe in 1991 and Pardes in 1997. By the age of 16, she started working as a professional model. During this time, she appeared in over five hundred commercials.
She also gained visibility by appearing in music videos for the singer Falguni Pathak. These included appearances in the videos for Yaad Piya Ki Aane Lagi and Piya Se Mil Ke Aaye Nain. This early work established her presence in the entertainment industry before she transitioned into lead film roles.
Film debut and Telugu cinema
Her major film debut came in 2000 with the Telugu film Nuvve Kavali. She acted opposite Tarun, with whom she had previously worked on a commercial directed by Rajiv Menon. The film explored the romance between childhood friends in a college setting.
Nuvve Kavali became a significant commercial success. Critics noted that she did not seem like a newcomer despite it being her first film. This specific performance led to her winning the Filmfare Award for Best Actress in the Telugu category.
Work in other languages
Richa Pallod expanded her career into Tamil, Hindi, Kannada, and Malayalam films. In Tamil cinema, she played the lead role opposite Vijay in the film Shahjahan in 2001. She also appeared in the Tamil film Alli Arjuna alongside Manoj Bharathiraja. Later, she acted in the supporting cast for the Tamil movie Unakkum Enakkum in 2006.
Her Hindi filmography includes the Yash Raj Films production Neal n Nikki in 2005, where she played the character Sweety. She also starred in Kuch Tum Kaho Kuch Hum Kahein opposite Fardeen Khan. In 2009, she made her Malayalam film debut in the movie Daddy Cool, playing a mother named Annie Simon. This role was well-received by critics and the film performed successfully.
Personal life and later projects
Richa married Himanshu Bajaj around 2011. The couple welcomed their son into the world around 2013. Following her wedding, she took a break from acting for several years.
In 2011, she worked as a Hindi voice dubbing artist for the film X-Men: First Class. She dubbed the dialogue for the character Moira MacTaggert, played by Rose Byrne. She eventually returned to live-action screen acting in 2015 with a supporting role in the film Yagavarayinum Naa Kaakka, also released as Malupu.
