Who is Sara Khan?
Early life in India
Sara Khan was born on August 6, 1989, in Bhopal, India. She is a Sunni Muslim and has a sister named Ayra Khan. Before starting her acting career, she participated in pageants and won the title of Miss Bhopal in 2007.
Television acting career
Sara began her career as a model before moving into television acting. She made her debut in the popular Star Plus show Sapna Babul Ka Bidaai in 2007, where she played the character Sadhna opposite Angad Hasija. She remained with the show until June 2010. Following this, she took on the role of Mona in the Zee TV series Preet Se Bandhi Ye Dori Ram Milaayi Jodi, which aired from 2010 to 2012.
Her career continued with diverse roles in various serials. In 2013, she appeared in the Life OK serial Junoon Aisi Nafrat Toh Kaisa Ishq as Shaalu Pandey. She later portrayed the character Maya, an Icchhadhari Naagin, in the Colors TV show Sasural Simar Ka from 2014 to 2015. Over the years, she has also appeared in shows like V The Serial, Pyaar Tune Kya Kiya, Encounter, and Tujhse Hi Rabta.
Reality television and public appearances
Beyond acting, Sara has been a frequent face on reality television. In 2008, she appeared as a guest on Kya Aap Paanchvi Pass Se Tez Hain? And Amul Star Voice of India 2. She also hosted the dancing reality show Dance Premier League on Sony TV. In 2010, she was a contestant on Bigg Boss 4, where she stayed for 10 weeks.
Her reality TV credits also include Welcome Baazi Mehmaan-Nawaazi Ki and hosting the show BIG Fame Star in 2013. She participated in Nach Baliye 6 as a wildcard contestant alongside Paras Chhabra. Also, she appeared on programs such as Box Cricket League, Comedy Classes, and Comedy Nights Bachao. In 2018, she featured in the music video for the song Tere Jism.
Relationships and personal life
Sara Khan married television actor Ali Merchant in 2010 during an Islamic wedding ceremony held on the reality show Bigg Boss 4. The marriage ended in divorce two years later in 2011. There was public speculation regarding whether the couple was paid for the televised event, though the network denied these claims.
Following her first marriage, Sara wed actor Krish Pathak on October 6, 2025. This was a court marriage ceremony held in Mumbai.
