Sasha Pivovarova was born in Moscow, Russia, on January 21, 1985. Before pursuing modeling, she was a student of art history at the Russian State University for the Humanities. She did not initially plan a career in the fashion industry. Her path changed in 2005 when her friend and future husband, Igor Vishnyakov, captured photographs of her. He submitted these images to the international modeling agency IMG, which helped launch her career.
