Early life and education
Severija Janušauskaitė was born on October 22, 1981, in Šiauliai, Lithuania. Her mother works as a teacher, while her father is a power engineer. She grew up with a sister who pursues a career as an intellectual property lawyer within the recording industry trade association.
Her interest in the arts began during childhood, inspired by her grandfather who played multiple instruments. After studying music and graduating from a fine arts school, she pursued a specialized program in theatre and film. She completed her studies at the Lithuanian Academy of Music and Theatre in 2005.
Theatre and film career
Since 2003, Severija has performed at various venues, including the State Youth Theatre of Lithuania and the Oskaras Koršunovas Theatre. She secured her first significant stage role in Woman from the Past in 2006. In 2008, she received a nomination for the Golden Stage Cross for her performance in Patriots at the Lithuanian State Youth Theatre.
Her film work began in 2004 with the short film The Flame. She later appeared in the 2010 feature film Anarchy Girls, directed by Saulius Drunga. In 2014, her role as Margarita in the film Star earned her several accolades, including a Best Actress Award at the Sochi Open Russian Film Festival and a Golden Eagle Award in 2015.
Music and other work
Beyond acting, she works as a composer and a fashion model. She has written music for theatre productions such as Evolution and The Little Match Girl at the Arts Printing House. Also, she has contributed to the arts as a costume designer for shows at the Vilnius Puppet Theatre.
Her musical contribution to the series Babylon Berlin included the song Zu Asche, Zu Staub. This track reached the top of the Amazon and iTunes download charts in Germany in October 2018. She is also a skilled piano player.
