Who is Simran Kaur Mundi?
Early life
Simran Kaur Mundi was born in Mumbai, India, and belongs to a Jat family from Mundian Jattan, Hoshiarpur, Punjab. She studied for two years at Delhi Public School in Vijaipur, Guna, Madhya Pradesh, and later completed her schooling at Scindia Kanya Vidyalaya in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh. In 2007, she completed her Bio-Technology degree from Holkar Science College in Indore.
After finishing her graduation, she relocated to Mumbai. She worked with Fame Cinemas in Andheri as a guest relations executive, where she exclusively managed bookings for professionals from the film and media industry.
Modelling and pageantry
While working at Fame Cinemas, she was noticed by makeup artists Bharat and Dorris, who encouraged her to enter the Femina Miss India 2008 pageant. Without any prior formal modeling experience, she competed against other contestants and won the title of Femina Miss India Universe in 2008.
She then represented India at the Miss Universe 2008 pageant held at the Diamond Bay Resort in Nha Trang, Vietnam, on July 13, 2008. During the competition, she placed first runner-up in the Beach Beauty Competition, second runner-up in the Evening Gown Contest, and fourth in the National Costume Round.
Acting career
Simran Kaur Mundi made her Bollywood acting debut in the film Jo Hum Chahein on December 16, 2011, opposite Sunny Gill. In July 2013, she made her Punjabi film debut in Best of Luck alongside Gippy Grewal and Jazzy Bains, which became one of the top-grossing Punjabi films of its time. In September 2013, she debuted in Tollywood with the film Potugadu, starring opposite Manoj Manchu.
Her subsequent Hindi film projects included Kuku Mathur Ki Jhand Ho Gayi and Kis Kisko Pyaar Karoon, the latter of which was a commercial success directed by AbbasMustan and co-starring comedian Kapil Sharma. Alongside her film work, she appeared on television in the reality game show Zor Ka Jhatka: Total Wipeout in January 2011 and hosted the Hockey India League in January 2013.
Personal life
Simran Kaur Mundi married Gurickk Maan, the son of Punjabi singer and actor Gurdas Maan, on January 31, 2020, in Patiala. The couple welcomed a baby boy on February 24, 2024. She stands at a height of 175 centimeters.
