Who is Spencer Pratt?
Early life and education
Spencer Pratt was born in Los Angeles on August 14, 1983. His parents are Janet and William Pratt, who worked as a dentist. During his youth, he attended the Crossroads School for Arts and Sciences located in Santa Monica.
He later enrolled at the University of Southern California to study political science. He initially left the school to focus on his entertainment career but returned to his studies in 2011. In December 2013, he completed his undergraduate degree.
Television career and The Hills
Spencer first appeared on screen in 2005 on the short reality series The Princes of Malibu, where he served as the manager and publicist for Brody Jenner. In 2006, MTV launched The Hills, a spin-off of Laguna Beach: The Real Orange County. He became a central figure on the program, which followed the lives of Lauren Conrad, Heidi Montag, and others.
During the third season, a major conflict arose between Spencer, his girlfriend Heidi Montag, and Lauren Conrad. This feud became the primary narrative of the show for several seasons. He was later featured in the 2019 reboot titled The Hills: New Beginnings, which showed his life running a business called Pratt Daddy Crystals with his wife. The couple also appeared on the documentary special After Shock: Heidi & Spencer.

In 2025, their home in Pacific Palisades was destroyed during the Palisades Fire. Following the loss, he sued the city of Los Angeles. In 2026, he launched a campaign to run for mayor of Los Angeles, focusing on public safety and his criticisms of the local government's response to the fire. He finished third in the primary election and did not advance to the general vote.
