Who is Sylvie Tellier?
Early life and education
Sylvie Tellier was born in Nantes to parents from Normandy. She spent her childhood in Les Sables-d'Olonne. Her family had modest financial means. She studied law at Nantes University and earned a DEUG. Later, she moved to Lyon to attend Jean Moulin University Lyon 3. Sylvie graduated from that school with a master's degree in private law. Her studies focused on business law and tax law.
Pageant career
The mother of her boyfriend encouraged Sylvie to enter Miss Vendée in 1997. She won that title and competed in Miss Pays de la Loire 1997. She finished as the first runner-up in that pageant. Four years later, she returned to competitions while living in Lyon. Sylvie won the Miss Lyon 2001 title. This victory allowed her to enter the Miss France 2002 competition in Alsace. She was crowned the winner of Miss France 2002. This made her the seventh woman from the Rhône-Alpes region to win. She competed at Miss Universe 2002 but did not place. She finished her reign in 2003 by crowning Corrine Coman of Guadeloupe.
Director of Miss France
Sylvie Tellier joined the Miss France Company in 2005. Her first role was the head of external relations. In 2007, Virginie Calmels appointed her as the director of the Miss France organization. This change happened after a reorganization within Endemol France. She also became the head of the Miss Europe Organization. Sylvie replaced Geneviève de Fontenay in this position. De Fontenay had served as the director for 20 years. Sylvie held the role for fifteen years. In August 2022, she resigned from her duties. Cindy Fabre took over. Sylvie stayed as an advisor until the end of Miss France 2023.
Family and personal life
Sylvie married Camille Le Maux in June 2007 in Gordes. They had a son in 2010 who was born in San Jose, California. The couple divorced in 2012. She had a daughter in 2014. Sylvie married her second husband in 2017. Her third child, a son, was born in 2018. In June 2023, she became a knight of the Ordre national du Mérite. This honor recognized her management of Miss France and her philanthropic work. This award is also known as the Knight of the National Order of Merit.
