Who is Teun Koopmeiners?
Early life and youth career
Teun Koopmeiners was born in Castricum, Netherlands. He began his football path at the local club Vitesse '22. In 2009, he joined the youth academy of AZ Alkmaar at the under-12 level. He progressed through the club's ranks and eventually played for their reserve side, Jong AZ.
While playing for Jong AZ during the 2016 to 2017 season, he helped the team secure the Dutch third division championship. This success earned the team promotion to the Eerste Divisie. He made his professional debut for Jong AZ on August 18, 2017, in a victory against FC Den Bosch.
Professional club career in the Netherlands
Teun Koopmeiners made his first team debut for AZ Alkmaar on October 1, 2017, entering as a substitute against Feyenoord. During his first professional season, he made 26 league appearances and scored one goal. By the end of that campaign, AZ finished in third place, which qualified the club for the Europa League.
In the 2019 to 2020 season, Teun scored 16 goals across 42 appearances in all competitions, helping AZ finish second in the Eredivisie. Teun Koopmeiners transferred to Juventus on August 28, 2024, signing a five-year contract. The transfer fee was 51.3 million euros plus additional performance-based costs. He made his debut for Juventus on September 1, 2024, in a match against Roma.
