Biography
Who is Viktoria Modesta?
Early life and real name
Viktoria Modesta was born as Viktorija Moskaļova on February 25, 1988, in Daugavpils, Latvia. During her birth, a doctor's negligence resulted in a severe injury to her left leg. This injury led to a childhood spent frequently visiting hospitals for medical treatments. Despite these physical challenges, she began attending a local music school at the age of six. During these early years, she studied sheet music, piano, and vocal performance.
When she was twelve years old, Viktoria moved from Latvia to the United Kingdom with her family. Her mother had previously resisted pressure from medical staff to place her daughter in an orphanage due to her leg condition. By the age of fifteen, she started her career in the fashion industry as a model. At this same age, she decided she wanted to undergo a voluntary amputation to improve her health and mobility, though it would take several years to find a surgeon to perform the operation.

In 2010, she released her debut EP titled EP1 and was named one of the top six unsigned artists in the UK by Evo Music Rooms on Channel 4.
