Early life and career beginnings
Yeferson Soteldo was born in Acarigua, in the Venezuelan state of Portuguesa. As a teenager, he moved to Caracas. His career began in earnest when he was invited to join Zamora FC at age 16. On September 16, 2013, he made his first professional appearance for the team, entering as a substitute during a home match against Atlético Venezuela.
By the 2014-15 season, he established himself as a regular starter for the club. He scored his first professional goal on January 28, 2015, in a victory over Carabobo. During the 2015 campaign, he contributed twelve goals to help his team secure the Primera División trophy. His early success in Venezuela set the foundation for his future international career.
International and club career highlights
In December 2016, Yeferson moved abroad to join the Chilean side Huachipato. He later spent time on loan with Universidad de Chile before signing a four-year contract with the Brazilian club Santos FC in January 2019. His career path included a transfer to Major League Soccer side Toronto FC in April 2021. He made his MLS debut against the New York Red Bulls in May of that year.
