Early life and education
Aamina Sheikh was born in New York City, United States, on August 29, 1981. She was raised in both Karachi and Riyadh during her childhood. For her formal schooling, she attended the American International School in Riyadh, St Joseph's Convent School, and The Lyceum School.
She eventually pursued higher education in video production at Hampshire College. Following her studies, she gained initial professional experience as an assistant at Curious Pictures before moving back to Pakistan to launch her career in the entertainment and fashion industries.
Modeling and early television career
Upon returning to Pakistan, Aamina Sheikh began her career as a fashion model. She gained well-known visibility as a spokesperson for the French beauty brand L'Oreal. Her work in fashion included print campaigns for various designers, such as Deepak Perwani, Amir Adnan, Nomi Ansari, and Maheen Khan. She also appeared in a fashion show for designer Rehana Saigol.
Her transition into television began with directorial and production work. She directed and produced the children's talk show Bachey Man Ke Sachey for Geo Entertainment. Her on-screen acting debut occurred in the 2007 telefilm Gurmukh Singh ki Waseeyat, where she portrayed Sughra. This project was based on a short story by Saadat Hassan Manto and focused on the aftermath of the partition of India.

Aamina Sheikh made her feature film debut in the 2012 social drama Seedlings. Her portrayal of a grieving mother in the film earned her significant critical acclaim. She received several honors for this role, including the Best Film Actress award at the Lux Style Awards, as well as recognition from the New York Film Festival and the SAARC Film Festival.
She continued her film career with the social drama Josh: Independence Through Unity in 2014. Her performance in this film resulted in nominations for Best Actress at the Lux Style Awards and the Silent River Film Festival. In 2015, she contributed to the industry by serving as a member of the Pakistani Academy Selection Committee.

Aamina Sheikh is of Sindhi ethnicity. In 2005, she married actor Mohib Mirza in Karachi. The couple had met while working together on a show, where Mirza hosted and Sheikh directed. They have one daughter together named Meissa, who was born in 2015. The couple announced their separation in 2018 and finalized their divorce in 2019.
In August 2020, Aamina remarried. Her current spouse is businessman Omer Farooqi. The couple has a son named Issa, who was born in 2021.
