Who is Aly Michalka?
Early life and education
Aly Michalka was born in Torrance, California. She spent her childhood in Seattle and Southern California. Aly began acting at age five in church plays near Thousand Oaks and Seattle. She also started playing piano at age five. She later learned to play guitar at age 13. Aly attended the Young Actors Space for her education. She was raised in the Christian faith.
Acting career
Aly Michalka gained fame as Keely Teslow on the Disney Channel series Phil of the Future from 2004 to 2006. She acted in the Disney movie Now You See It... And the TV movie Cow Belles. Aly appeared in films like Easy A and The Roommate between 2010 and 2011. She played Marti Perkins in the CW series Hellcats during 2010 and 2011. Other film roles include Bandslam in 2009 and Grown Ups 2 in 2013.
Aly had a recurring role in iZombie from 2015 and became a regular cast member in the third season. She starred in the 2021 movie Sand Dollar Cove. She appeared in the 2017 film The Lears and the 2013 movie Crazy Kind of Love. Aly also had a part in Two and a Half Men and guest starred on CSI: NY. She will play Anne Hathaway in the Broadway show & Juliet in November 2026.
Music career
In 2004, Aly Michalka and her sister AJ created the duo Aly & AJ. They released their first album, Into the Rush, in August 2005. They put out a holiday record called Acoustic Hearts of Winter in 2006. Their 2007 album Insomniatic featured the hit song Potential Breakup Song. The group briefly used the name 78violet before returning to Aly & AJ in 2015.
They released the single Hothouse in July 2013. In 2017, they announced the song Take Me as a lead single for an EP. The duo released the album A Touch of the Beat Gets You Up on Your Feet Gets You Out and Then Into the Sun in 2021.
Family and personal life
Aly is the daughter of Mark and Carrie. Mark owns a contracting business. Carrie is a musician who played with the JC Band. Aly has a younger sister named AJ who also works in music and acting.
Aly Michalka began dating Stephen Ringer in 2012 after meeting on the set of Sequoia. The couple got engaged in Big Sur in July 2014. They married in Portofino, Italy, on June 6, 2015. Stephen Ringer is an independent film producer who directed Weepah Way for Now. Aly and Stephen had a son on April 21, 2024.
