Who is Amad Diallo?
Early life and youth development
Amad Diallo was born in Abidjan, Ivory Coast. He emigrated to Italy as a child at eight years old. He began playing organized football for the club Boca Barco in Bibbiano during September 2014. He quickly demonstrated significant potential at a local Christmas youth tournament later that same year, where he finished as the top goalscorer despite being the youngest player on the field.
Rise at Atalanta
Amad Diallo joined the Atalanta youth ranks in 2015, initially playing with the under-14s before quickly advancing to the under-15 team. During the 2015-16 season, he helped his team win the league title after scoring against Roma in the final match of the Final Eight tournament.
Manchester United career and loans
In October 2020, Manchester United agreed to sign Amad Diallo for a fee between €21.3 million and €37 million including bonuses. He officially joined the club in January 2021 on a five-year contract. He made his first-team debut in February 2021 during a Europa League match against Real Sociedad. His first goal for the club came in March 2021 against AC Milan.
International football
Amad Diallo received his first call-up to the Ivory Coast national team in March 2021 for Africa Cup of Nations qualification matches. He made his debut against Niger as a substitute. His first international goal occurred in June 2021, a 97th-minute free kick against Burkina Faso that secured a 2-1 win.
