Who is Anna Sedokova?
Early life and education
Anna Volodymyrivna Sedokova was born in Kyiv, Ukraine, which was then part of the Soviet Union. Her parents had previously moved from Tomsk, and they divorced when she was very young. During her childhood, she developed a strong interest in both music and dance. She eventually enrolled in the Kyiv National University of Culture and Arts at the age of 17, continuing her studies while also hosting television shows.
Rise to fame
Anna Sedokova began her broadcasting career working as a news anchor for the music television channel OTV. By the age of 18, she had already worked on three different television programs, including NEWS BLOK, Fashionable Life, and The Big Sunday News Digest. In 2001, she passed an audition to host the morning show Podjem on Novyi Kanal, which achieved the highest ratings in the country.
Between 2002 and 2004, Anna gained widespread recognition as a member of the Ukrainian pop girl group Nu Virgos, also known as VIA Gra in Ukraine and the Commonwealth of Independent States. Performing as part of the group's golden line-up, she established herself as a major pop music figure before leaving to pursue other creative projects.
Solo music and television career
Following her departure from the group, Anna began a solo music career. Her first music video for the song My Heart reached the top of the charts and earned her an Audience Appreciation Award at the 5 STARS Sotchi Music Festival. She followed this with successful music videos for the songs The Very Best Girl and I Am Getting Used, which became major hits in Russia and Ukraine. In 2016, she released her debut studio album, Lichnoe, which peaked at number two in Russia.
Alongside her music, Anna maintained a prominent television career. She hosted the expensive Ukrainian program TVStar Superstar in 2008 and was named the best TV host of the country by Elle in 2009. She went on to host high-profile Russian television projects, including King of the Ring, Project Runway Russia, and numerous large concert broadcasts such as The New Songs About the Most Essential Thing.
Acting and writing
Anna expanded her career into acting, appearing in television productions and films such as Cinderella and The Evenings on the Homestead. Her role in the 2007 film The Tunguska Meteorite marked a turning point in her acting career, and she later starred in The Power of Attraction. In 2011, she played the lead role in the comedy film The Pregnant, which achieved box office success in Russia.
In addition to performing, she wrote a book titled The Art of Seduction, published in 2010, which became a best-seller in Russia. Her public recognition also led to multiple awards, including being named the recipient of the Sexiest Female Award and the Most Beloved Star award for several consecutive years.
