Biography
Who is Beatrice Borromeo?
Early life and education
Beatrice Borromeo was born in Innichen, Italy, to Count Carlo Ferdinando Borromeo and Countess Paola Marzotto. She belongs to an historic aristocratic family that owns estates across the Lombardy and Piedmont regions, as well as several Borromean Islands on Lake Maggiore. Her maternal grandmother was the fashion designer Marta Marzotto, and her uncle Matteo Marzotto served as director of the Valentino fashion house.
She completed her secondary schooling in 2004 at the Liceo Classico Giovanni Berchet located in Milan. Following her primary studies, she pursued higher education in law at Bocconi University, graduating in 2010. She later expanded her academic credentials by earning a Masters degree in Journalism from Columbia University in New York in 2012.
Journalism and documentary career
Beatrice started her professional media career as a reporter for the Italian newspaper Il Fatto Quotidiano in 2009, a role she maintained for several years. Her work involved interviewing political figures and public intellectuals, including author Roberto Saviano and senator Marcello Dell'Utri. She also contributed articles to international publications such as Newsweek and The Daily Beast starting in 2013.
Beyond print journalism, she has extensive experience in television and radio. She appeared on the Rai 2 program AnnoZero from 2006 to 2008 and hosted her own weekly segment on the Radio 105 Network in 2009. Her focus often turned to social and political issues, including the conditions in the Caivano slums and the activities of mafia women.
Fashion and modelling work
Beatrice began her career in the fashion industry at age fifteen. With the guidance of Piero Piazzi at the Tomei modelling agency, she started walking the runway for high-profile fashion houses. Over the years, she has worked with brands such as Chanel, Valentino, and Trussardi. She also served as a face for the Blumarine brand.
Her involvement in the fashion world continued into her adult career as she took on ambassador roles for major labels. In March 2021, she was officially announced as an ambassador for Dior. This role aligns with her long-standing presence in both the Italian social scene and international fashion circles.
Personal life and family
Beatrice married Pierre Casiraghi in 2015. Their union was celebrated with both a civil ceremony in the gardens of the Prince's Palace of Monaco and a religious service held on the Isolino di San Giovanni. The couple has two sons, Stefano and Francesco. She was also named a Special Envoy for Human Rights for the organization F4D in 2015.
While she comes from a historic aristocratic background, she has maintained a public career independent of her family status. In past interviews, she identified as an atheist and leftist. She is active in various public spheres, often balancing her work in journalism with her roles as a public figure and fashion ambassador.
