Who is Ben Hardy?
Early life and education
Ben Hardy was born Ben Jones on January 2, 1991, in Bournemouth, Dorset, and he grew up in the town of Sherborne. During his childhood, he attended Sherborne Abbey Primary School before moving on to the Gryphon School for his secondary education. While studying as a student at Gryphon, Ben starred as Sergeant Francis Troy in a school film adaptation of Far from the Madding Crowd.
Following his secondary education, Ben pursued formal training in performance. He attended the Royal Central School of Speech and Drama in London, where he graduated before launching his professional acting career.
Stage and television career
Ben began his professional career on the stage in 2012. He starred as Arthur Wellesley in the David Hare play The Judas Kiss, which featured Rupert Everett. The production had an initial limited run at the Hampstead Theatre before transferring to the West End at the Duke of York's Theatre in January 2013.
In April 2013, it was announced that Ben would join the cast of the long-running BBC soap opera EastEnders. He played the character Peter Beale, making his first appearance in June 2013. After more than a year on the soap opera, his departure was announced, and he made his final appearance in February 2015.
Film breakthrough and major roles
Ben made his feature film debut as the winged mutant Archangel in the superhero film X-Men: Apocalypse, which was released in May 2016. The following year, he appeared in two distinct motion pictures. He played John William Polidori in the period romance Mary Shelley and portrayed firefighter Wade Parker in the action drama Only the Brave.
In 2018, Ben took on his most high-profile film role to date by portraying Queen drummer Roger Taylor in the biographical drama Bohemian Rhapsody. The main cast received a nomination for Outstanding Performance by a Cast in a Motion Picture at the Screen Actors Guild Awards. His subsequent film credits include the Netflix action thriller 6 Underground, the comedy movie Pixie, and the romantic comedy Love at First Sight.
