Early life and education
Carrie Hope Fletcher was born in South Harrow within the London borough of Harrow. She attended Northwood College during her school years. Her family includes her brother, Tom Fletcher.
As a young child, Carrie began appearing in musical theatre productions across London. She took part in shows such as Mary Poppins and Chitty Chitty Bang Bang. Her early television appearances included small roles on various programs.
Theatre and musical career
Carrie made her debut in the West End at age seven playing Young Éponine in Les Misérables. In 2002, she joined the original cast of Chitty Chitty Bang Bang as Jemima Potts. She later played Jane Banks in Mary Poppins in 2004.
She returned to Les Misérables in 2013 to take over the role of Éponine. Carrie is the only British performer to have played the roles of young Éponine, older Éponine, and Fantine in that production. In 2018, she starred as Veronica Sawyer in the West End production of Heathers: The Musical.
Writing and music
Carrie has established herself as a successful author of several bestselling novels. Her first book, All I Know Now: Wonderings and Reflections on Growing Up Gracefully, became a number one bestseller in the UK in 2015. She has since released multiple books for both adults and children.
In the music industry, she released her debut solo album, When The Curtain Falls, in March 2018. This followed the release of two singles, Running Through Rivers and The Way We Were. She also performed a solo UK concert tour in 2023.
