Early life and background
Chris Noth was born on November 13, 1954, in Madison, Wisconsin. He was the youngest of three boys born to Jeanne Parr and Charles James Noth. His mother was a reporter and host for CBS News. His father worked as an insurance agent and was a naval aviator during World War II and the Korean War.
The family moved to Stamford, Connecticut, when he was five years old. His parents separated during his childhood, and his father passed away in a car accident in 1966. During his youth, the family lived in Connecticut before moving to southern California in 1969 and later returning to New York in the early 1970s.
Education and training
Chris Noth studied English literature and religion at Marlboro College in Vermont. It was during his time there that he discovered his interest in acting through a repertory theatre company. This experience motivated him to pursue a professional career on the stage.
