Who is Chrissy Teigen?
Early life and background
Christine Diane Teigen was born on November 30, 1985, in Delta, Utah. Her mother, Vilailuck Chaiudom, is from Thailand, while her father, Ronald Leroy Teigen, has Norwegian and German ancestry. She attended Snohomish High School in Washington after her family moved there during her childhood.
Her parents separated when she was 15. Following the separation, she moved to Huntington Beach, California, with her father and sister. While living in Huntington Beach, she worked at a local surf shop. It was there that a photographer discovered her, leading to her first modeling campaign with the clothing brand Billabong.
Modeling and early career
Chrissy Teigen made her professional modeling debut in the 2010 Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue, where she earned the title of Rookie of the Year. Her career expanded quickly, and she appeared on the cover of the magazine's 50th-anniversary edition in 2014 alongside Nina Agdal and Lily Aldridge. Beyond print modeling, she appeared in the 2011 Electronic Arts video game Need for Speed: The Run.
She also took on various television roles early in her career. She served as a briefcase model on the game show Deal or No Deal during its first season. Later, she returned to the franchise in 2025 to participate in Deal or No Deal Island. In 2013, she hosted the VH1 competition series Model Employee.

Chrissy became a familiar face on television through several hosting roles. She co-hosted the musical competition show Lip Sync Battle with LL Cool J from 2015 to 2019. During this same period, she served as a panelist on the talk show FABLife. In 2019, she was a judge on the comedy competition series Bring the Funny. She also executive produced and starred in the courtroom-style series Chrissy's Court, which moved from Quibi to The Roku Channel.
Her interest in food led to a successful career as an author. She published her first cookbook, Cravings: Recipes for All of the Food You Want to Eat, in 2016, which became a New York Times bestseller. She followed this with a second book, Cravings: Hungry For More, in 2018. She also launched a website, Cravings by Chrissy Teigen, to share recipes and entertainment tips.
Family and marriage
Chrissy Teigen met musician John Legend on the set of his music video for the song Stereo in 2006. The couple dated for four years before becoming engaged in December 2011. They married in September 2013 during a ceremony in Como, Italy. They renewed their vows at the same location in 2023 to celebrate ten years of marriage.
The couple has four children together. Their first daughter was born in 2016, and their son was born in 2018. They experienced a pregnancy loss in 2020. In 2023, she gave birth to a second daughter, and their fourth child, a son, was born later that year via surrogacy. They currently reside in Beverly Hills, California.
