Who is Lily Aldridge?
Early life and family
Lily Aldridge was born in Santa Monica, California, to parents Alan Aldridge and Laura Lyons. Her father worked as an artist, while her mother was a magazine model. Growing up within an artistic family environment, she attended local schools including Notre Dame High School in Sherman Oaks.
Her family connections also include her sister Ruby Aldridge, who pursued a career in modeling as well. Lily spent time living and attending school in London during her youth before focusing entirely on her professional career.
Modeling career and magazines
Lily began working as a professional model at the age of 16 for Abercrombie and Fitch. Over the years, she secured advertising campaigns with major brands such as Rag and Bone, Bobbi Brown, Tommy Hilfiger, Coach, and Levi's. She also became the face of the fashion label Velvet Tees and released her own capsule collection with them.
Her editorial work expanded rapidly with her first major magazine cover for Spanish Vogue in August 2003. She subsequently appeared on the covers of French Glamour, Vogue Mexico, Elle Korea, and Allure Russia. In 2014, she achieved a major milestone by appearing on the 50th anniversary cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Issue alongside Chrissy Teigen and Nina Agdal.
Victoria's Secret career
Lily made her debut in the annual Victoria's Secret Fashion Show in 2009 and earned her official wings as a Victoria's Secret Angel in 2010. She continued walking in the brand's runway shows until her final appearance in 2018.
In November 2015, she was chosen to wear the valuable Fantasy Bra during the fashion show. The gemstone-encrusted bra was created by the jeweler Mouawad and featured more than 6,500 precious stones. During her time as an Angel, she also appeared on several collector edition magazine covers alongside fellow models.
Other ventures and personal life
Beyond print and runway modeling, Lily appeared in music videos including Limp Bizkit's 2000 video for Break Stuff, Taylor Swift's Bad Blood, and multiple videos for Kings of Leon. She also made television appearances on series such as Two Broke Girls and the film Ocean's 8. In 2019, she launched her own sustainable fragrance line named Lily Aldridge Parfums.
Lily met Kings of Leon frontman Caleb Followill at the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival in 2007. The couple married on May 12, 2011, at the San Ysidro Ranch in Montecito, California. They share two children together, a daughter born in 2012 and a son born in 2019.
