Early life and discovery
Danielle Marie Campbell was born in Hinsdale, Illinois. Her parents are John and Georganne Campbell, and she grew up with one younger brother. During her childhood, she attended Hinsdale Central High School.
Her professional path began unexpectedly when she was only ten years old. While visiting a hair salon located in Chicago, talent scouts noticed her potential. This chance encounter quickly led to her first steps into the entertainment industry.
Acting career beginnings
Her initial acting experience included a guest role on the television show Prison Break, where she appeared in five episodes. She also participated in a nationwide commercial for the Build-A-Bear Workshop brand. In 2008, she secured a role as Darla in the film The Poker House.

In 2013, she joined the cast of the CW drama series The Originals. She portrayed a powerful witch named Davina Claire for multiple seasons. Later in 2013, producers announced her casting in the film 16 South with Luke Benward. She also worked on the 2016 film Race To Redemption alongside Luke Perry and Aiden Flowers.
Her career continued with diverse television roles. She played Ellie Reed in the 2016 series SINs and appeared as Maddy in the 2017 production F the Prom. In 2018, she had a recurring role in the second season of Famous in Love. During that same year, she appeared in the music video for the song Better With You by Jesse McCartney.

Danielle Campbell resides in Los Angeles, California. In her personal life, she was previously in a relationship with musician Louis Tomlinson from November 2015 until December 2016.
She began dating Colin Woodell, a longtime friend and her former co-star from The Originals, in February 2018. The couple became engaged in August 2023 after five years of dating. They were married on September 13, 2025, in a ceremony held in Biarritz, France.
