Who is Deborah Ann Woll?
Early life and education
Deborah Ann Woll was born in Brooklyn, New York City, on February 7, 1985. Her father, Peter L. Woll, worked as an architect, and her mother, Catherine, taught at the Berkeley Carroll School. She is of German and Irish descent.
For her education, she attended the Packer Collegiate Institute. She later studied at the USC School of Theatre, where she received a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 2007, and also attended the Royal Academy of Dramatic Arts.
Television and film career
Deborah began her career with guest roles in television series such as Life, ER, CSI: Crime Scene Investigation, My Name Is Earl, and The Mentalist in 2007 and 2008. In 2008, she landed her breakout role as Jessica Hamby in the HBO fantasy drama series True Blood, which she played until 2014. Her work on True Blood earned her a Satellite Award for Best Cast alongside her co-stars.
She later portrayed Karen Page in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, appearing as the female lead in Daredevil from 2015 to 2018, as well as in The Punisher and The Defenders. Her film credits include Mother's Day, Ruby Sparks, Escape Room, and its sequel Escape Room: Tournament of Champions.
Voice acting and tabletop gaming
In 2022, Deborah provided the voice and motion capture for Faye in the video game God of War Ragnarök. She has also appeared in multiple tabletop gaming web series and served as a Dungeon Master for several actual play series.
She created actual play series such as Relics and Rarities in 2019, Children of Éarte in 2022, and Tales From Woodcreek in 2025. She also worked as a consultant on the Dungeon Master's Guide for the revised 5th Edition of Dungeons & Dragons.
Personal life
Deborah began dating E. J. Scott in December 2007, and the couple married in December 2018. Scott has choroideremia, a condition that leads to blindness, and Deborah uses her platform to help raise awareness of the disease.
She has stated that her partner's attitude toward his disability has inspired her in her own management of celiac disease.
